Calico Cat

21 Oct

calico cat on my bed stand,

nightly vigil she keeps as I sleep

to protect me from unseen;

never does she purr or meow–

quietly she watches as she sits;

forever beside my bed I will keep her:

eyes have been replaced with buttons,

fake fur becoming thin in places,

still she remains my protector

This is for Friday Flash 55.  A poem or story of exactly 55 words.  Write one and tell G-Man.  He’ll come to read and comment.  Head over to Mr. Know It All to find more Flash 55s.

      My son had a stuffed cat when he was little, and I dug it out a while back. That poor Kitty certainly was well-loved also!

    Oh such a sweet kitty and a warm and tender 55er,
    No worries about vet bills, fleas, and fur-balls.

    My teddy bear AND my old cat, have long ago left me unprotected–because I did not protect them. But somehow I know they are nearby, always and forever…
