drifting aimlessly

It time for Sensational Haiku Wednesday.  Be sure to visit Jenn for more haiku with the theme of drift.

Tetractys

19 May

The challenge at Real Toads for the weekend is to write a tetractys.  It is a poem consisting of twenty syllables.  It’s divided into five lines with the following syllable count:  1, 2, 3, 4, 10.

seeds

sprouting

a new plant

growing stronger

Mother Nature renews herself each spring.

Be sure to visit Real Toads for more tetractys.

Talking to Karma

18 May

Walking in my flower garden

I saw a tall imposing figure

and asked who he might be

and was surprised to hear Karma.

***

I asked Karma my question

why oh why does my life

seem filled to overflowing with

such trouble and trials and injustice?

***

Silly foolish girl, of course

you know in this universe

there is the rule of threefold

that guides your life experiences.

***

But nobody had ever

mentioned a rule of threefold

and I begged of him please

to explain this principle.

***

Very simply he stated

that whatever you send

out shall return to

you three times as much.

***

The good and sweet shall

be rewarded with so much

more goodness entering

their lives as is deserving.

***

The one who is mean in

spirit, petty and wicked

will be punished with

more of their own flaws.

***

I don’t understand, I proclaimed!

There must be a mistake!  I try to

be kind to others and work hard

and be good to people and animals.

***

What have I done to deserve

such demeaning treatment

by those around me at work?

Surely, I’m deserving of good.

***

Think back, he replied with a grin,

beyond what typically your human

brain could possibly remember~

think through time and space.

***

Back to another lifetime I thought,

and it became crystal clear~

I had been myself a mysigonistic

tryant treating all unfairly.

***

At least that must have been the case.

No hope in the here and now.

I can only look forward to next time around.

But surely my lesson has already been learned.

***

Threefold, my child, threefold

is the rule and to it the Universe

must adhere.  Continue your path

and reap the rewards next time around.

***

While this might not be good poetry, it is possibly cathartic on this Friday afternoon.  Really, when the challenge is thrown out to show two different perspectives, what else could I do?  Be sure to visit Real Toads for better examples of poems with opposing viewpoints.

For the Letter Z

16 May

the Earth’s heavenly

halo in its zenith

shines radience

down upon the

crown of my head

blessings flow

through my body

from head to toe

clearing all worries

leaving me empty

in a state of

zen enlightenment

peace reigns supreme

***

Jenny Matlock’s Alphabe-Thursday has arrived once again at the letter Z.  Z is for zen.

Sapphire Queen of the Mid-May

16 May

Today’s challenge at Real Toads is to find a line from a poem that you don’t particularly love. I’m not a big fan of Keats, but I don’t know why.  I borrowed my title line from his poem Fancy .

verdant emerald green grass below,

lush shrubs and trees covered with

leaves, fruit and flowers enfolding,

rain plentiful from the skies above,

citrine yellow sunshine caresses the land.

enter into a celebratory festival of fertility

the sapphire queen of the mid-May

presiding over the activities~

dancing, blessing and conjuring for

an abundant summer harvest,

flitting about from plant to stem to leaf

her gentle kisses coaxing new growth~

buttercup flowers bloom

royal purple buds appear

ruby berries glistening~

greater cause to celebrate this mid-May.

Flames

16 May

wrongs will be redressed

flames feasting upon evil

flesh burning in Hell

The theme for this week’s Sensational Haiku Wednesday is fire.

Getting Up Again

15 May

beat someone down

and they get back up

stand up and defend themselves

each time a little slower

eventually it’s easier

and less painful

to stay in a crumpled heap

to give in and accept fate

rather than fighting back

I ask myself if I have

enough fight left to

get up and stand tall

one more time

~always one more time.

This is for the open link at Real Toads and d’Verse Poets.

Yesterday

10 May

This week Jenny Matlock’s Alphabe-Thursday is up to the letter Y.  Here is my humble offering~a trio of haiku and a bonus poem all about yesterday.

yesterday’s calling

pleasant memories lead me

to forget today

***

yesterday’s haunting

visits my sleep with nightmares

neverending fear

***

yesterday is done

today brings a new dawning

live the day fully

Yesterday fades away

into a vivid recreation

that tears me apart.

Insults and transgressions

are magnified;

the good times don’t exist.

I’ll never get over you!

You hurt me; I was helpless

as you weilded your Svengali

powers to turn me into a

hapless victim of your love.

Spring Arrives

10 May

A Roundel for the Real Toads challenge.

spring arrives announced by the yellow bee

accompained by warmth in the sweet air

birds and leaves begin to show on the tree

spring arrives

***

a gentle breeze lifts and tosses my hair

blowing in the wind, wild and free

turning my face to feel the warm fresh air

***

grass turns green covering the ground boldly

birds flying to the trees working as a pair

building a nest to raise their family

spring arrives
