Magpie Tales #39

Cock-a-doodle-doo!

In the morning and in the evening

He sings his song at the top of his lungs.

It sounds throughout the barnyard

waking the sleeping occupants.

Cock-a-doodle-doo!

He’s strutting his stuff for the ladies

hoping to gain special favors.

Sharing his food and dancing wildly.

Cock-a-doodle-doo!

The farmer and his wife yelling

for him to stop such a racket,

but all to no avail.

Now his morning call has led to Sunday dinner.

Cock-a-noodle-noo…

Escape

Wendy walked along the creek’s bank.

She wasn’t sure where she was going,

but she was happy to be away from

everything.  No phone or computer or

boss.  This was perfect.  Maybe

she would just keep walking; never go back.

Then again, the beauty of the walk

would be enough to go back to reality.

Silence

The theme this week for You Capture it is Halloween and Silence.  Be sure to visit Beth at I Should Be Folding Laundry for more photos.

The pumpkin at the end of the growing season fits perfectly for silence.  The garden is quiet–no crickts chirring, no birds singing.  The vines are dead and the pumpkin rests quietly on the ground.  The shadow is silent as it reaches across the pumpkin.  If you don’t believe me it is great for silence, it still works for Halloween!
