Shoes–worn and ragged–
story of a hard life
lived on the brink.
The hole in the soul
from a rocky rugged path.
Scuff marks;
Ragged laces broken, uneven
trail beneath tugging, tripping,
trying to pull me down.
Each step another chance to fall,
another mark or scuff.
Or a step forward
to shiny new shoes.

Linking to G-Man’s Friday Flash 55!
I’ve often looked at a pair of old shoes and thought how eloquent they are of the wearer, and the life…very well written 55–enjoyed it.
Yes, there are amazing stories in where and how we’ve walked. This was lovely, Teresa!
Shoes do tell a story! Nice 55.
Easier to mend a hole in a sole, than a whole of a soul! LOL ♥
love the optimistic ending!
5 Star Baby!!!
Teresa, what a fantastic story!
I Loved your 55
I think it’s filled with Hope!
Thanks for playing, and have a Kick Ass Week-End
nicely done. i like the line “ragged laces broken, uneven trail beneath tugging, tripping, trying to pull me down.” it’s amazing that the smallest things can be our downfall. but you know the saying “what doesn’t kill us makes us stronger.” i look forward to reading more.
this is a poignant write… like the hole in the soul…nice to meet you at FF Friday ~
a hole in the soul…i know how that can feel…i hope they keep moving forward and not let life get them down…
