Tired

I’m so tired.

I have fought the good fight.

Now I want to

lay me down to sleep.

I pray for peace

and serenity to carry me away,

to float above the clouds

and look down upon

the human pawns still

trapped in strategic games

to get more, be more

have more and love less.

It’s that favorite time of the week when G-Man is hosting Friday Flash 55. ย Write a story in exactly 55 words and go tell him about it.

I hope I’ve done okay at meeting the challenge at d’Verse Poets today where we are to write a poem in the style of the impressionists~mood is more important than the details.

  1. I often have this feeling–a mood, it’s like a weight that you shrug off, a curtain that gets in your way, but it’s hard to ignore sometimes. I think this piece is very Impressionistic, and having just sweated over it myself, doing that in 55 words is not easy. Excellent job–if you’ll pardon the expression. Last thing you want to hear right now I imagine is that word.

  2. I too hope everyone can move out of the traps that make us pawns in a larger game of strategy. I particularly hope that rest from the struggle is possible. BUT!!! What a dear wise soul is inhabiting this poem, I do not want her to rise up so high that her feet no longer need the ground. Just refresh and then come home.

  3. Teresa…
You can start on your quest for serenity tomorrow morning by not setting your alarm clock!
You have blossomed into a fantastic writer my friend.
    Loved your 55
Thanks for playing, and have a Kick Ass and Serene Week-End

    • I have to milk goats in the morning, so I better set my alarm. I do find that serene, but I start back to work teaching next week. ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. Indeed so many human pawns are seemingly trapped in games….and the irony is that they may not even know it. I enjoyed your impressionistic write!
