The weekend challenge from Real Toads is to jot a few lines of words to live by.

Mother Demeter discards

summer’s flowery garb.

Instead she dons her

favorite fall finery

in hues of orange, gold

and dusky brown.

The days grow  shorter,

and she views herself

as a wise old crone.
