Linking to Real Toads where the task was to write a poem with a fence.

fences in my mind

build them up

keep the memories

separated~good from bad

open the gates

for pleasant memories

to enter summer patures

green and growing; great

fences surrounding great memories

those other sad memories

require me to constantly

tend and mend

why is it these fences break down

with the weight of bad memories

pushing against the rails

trying to break loose and

bring the tears tumbling

with them

This should in no way imply that goats are nightmares.  🙂

  1. This was so touching and the sentiment so well said!~ I have difficulty tending some of my fences. I could so relate to your words~ Stunning and so well done!

  2. I like the idea of having fences in one’s mind to separate the good memories from the bad! But I also understand what you are saying about the fences around sad memories perhaps needing the most tending. I enjoyed your photographs too!
