Angry Young Man

I do hope everyone has a fabulous New Year.  I’m looking forward to a lot of great changes and progress in 2013.  Of course, I’m also looking forward to a lot of great poetry!  This is my contribution for Real Toads and d’Verse Poets open links this week.

No money means no drugs
Tryin’ to steal from me?
Ain’t gonna go like that;
You be trippin’ already
thinking ain’t no price
to play me that way.
Meet your maker and
good riddance bitch.

Running from black and
white city pigs
across the concrete lot
huffin’, puffin’, and pantin’
not fit for any foot race.
No escape across the line
Meat wagon’s comin’ now.

An angry young man
face down on the ground
screamin’, swearin’, squealin’
demanding freedom
promising to exact revenge

punk ass pants saggin’
boxers poking out
headed for Bubba
behind prison walls
crack a smile and
see who’s laughing now
wearin’ prison jumpsuit orange

  1. dang def a gritty scene…always makes me think what went wrong to get him there you know….something happened that changed the directory of his life…and i find that sad…

  2. There a lot of angry young men and women out in the streets ~ I find this sad & disheartening when they have a bright future, but this is only my perspective ~ I don’t understand this kind of life ~

Wishing you Happy new Year ~

  3. This was quite unexpected – I sat up a little straighter in my chair to take it all in. Your use of colloquial language made this stark portrayal of delinquency especially realistic.
