Over at Real Toads, Mama Zen has given us the Words Count challenge to write about a place we feel totally safe in no more than fifty-three words.  I generally feel safe, but that one place that truly brings a feeling of blissful comfort is in nature.  I’m also sharing with the open link at d’Verse Poets.

red-winged blackbird on fence post

hidden away from society

finding safety in solitude

surrounded by Nature;

sunshine caressing concerns,

water rushing fears away,

birds sing a soothing song;

closed eyes and clear mind

retreating from daily strife

freeing the soul to journey

to where we all come from

to where we all return

  1. Every word you wrote reminded me of where I was not long ago feeling safe and so embraced by nature. A lovely feeling indeed. Beautiful writing of how you experience that safety.

  2. freeing the soul to journey to where we all come from to where we all return – Essence of meditation beautifully captured.

  3. I am blessed to live in a part of the country very much like the place you describe in this poem … lovely.

  4. There is a serenity in the gentle simplicity of your poem. Your piece I think reflects the essence of nature, the purity of it, untarnished and filled with life. Reassuring in that respect, peaceful.
