Dreams

It’s a new week already!  That means it’s time for the open links at Real Toads and d’Verse Poets.

The little things that
bump and grind
spawning dark thoughts
in the recesses of my mind;
wayward children
trying to force fruition,
more and more disobedient,
refuse to let me alone.
The chasm looms,
deep and foreboding,
dragging me into a
dank dark black hole,
no escape from dreams
ignored.

Ode to the Back Forty

The task today for d’Verse Poets is to write a modern ode, a lyrical poem in praise of someone or something.  It should be no surprise that I’ve written about nature, more specifically my pasture.  I’ve also done it in exactly 55 words for G-Man’s Friday Flash 55.

pasture

Open sky
cathedral
showcasing
deity in
artwork of
grandiose
oak trees.
Crossed limbs
bearing the
burden of
nest and
squirrel;
bare branch
arms reach
above to
Heaven,
hovering
over stone
altar.  Tiny
parishioners
hovering
buzzing
around the
pulpets,
faithfully.
Take time
to sit and
praise the
architect’s
amazing
design.
Sacred space
revered and
honored
forever.

The Fox Says

Thanks, Mama Z.  I now have What Does the Fox Say? running through my brain in an endless loop.  Well, in 43 words or less, I’ve done my best to answer that question for Words Count at Real Toads.  Along with viewing the addictive video, I checked out some fox symbolism.
