Ode to the Back Forty

The task today for d’Verse Poets is to write a modern ode, a lyrical poem in praise of someone or something.  It should be no surprise that I’ve written about nature, more specifically my pasture.  I’ve also done it in exactly 55 words for G-Man’s Friday Flash 55.

pasture

Open sky
cathedral
showcasing
deity in
artwork of
grandiose
oak trees.
Crossed limbs
bearing the
burden of
nest and
squirrel;
bare branch
arms reach
above to
Heaven,
hovering
over stone
altar.  Tiny
parishioners
hovering
buzzing
around the
pulpets,
faithfully.
Take time
to sit and
praise the
architect’s
amazing
design.
Sacred space
revered and
honored
forever.
