Farewell Dance

Today’s task is to feel the love in 55 words.  It’s a poem for both d’Verse Poets and G-Man’s Friday Flash 55.

dead flower

dancing in the dark,
cover of night to
shield the tears
on my cold cheek
as you hold me close;
strong arm on
the small of my back,
guiding me across
the hushed room
to quiet of the bed,
to sweet good-byes
before you leave
in the morning
to answer the
soldier’s call of duty

  1. You are such a Romantic when you have a mind to it.
That’s part of what makes you so very special to all of us.
Loved your call to Duty 55
Thanks for playing and sharing, and have a Kick Ass Week-End

  2. This was so tender and beautiful, Teresa. Being separated from those you love and adore is never easy, but the military aspect adds a whole other dimension of heartbreak.
