Wild Quadrille

Today’s challenge at d’Verse Poets is to write a quadrille, a poem in exactly forty-four words, using the world wild.  You can check out other entries HERE.

Society’s bindings
never tame me;
struggles, challenges
strengthen me.

I laugh
feral and free
in the face of
my enemy.

Despite persecution
my eyes see
a better world
where I can be

strong, straight
as a tree,
never brought down,
swaying wild and free.

  1. I like the shape of your quadrille, Teresa, ‘straight as a tree’, and the reminder that nature and some people can never be tamed. I love the defiance, emphasised by the alliteration, in the lines:
    ‘I laugh
    feral and free
    in the face of
    my enemy’.
