Sweet Apple Wine

The challenge at d’Verse Poets is to write a poem about the apple, considering its history and mythology.  Here is my humble effort.

apples to apples–
red fruit in my hand,
pressed with honey
sweet fermentation–
nectar of the gods;
drunk in liquid gold
escape to the garden
of eden to seduce
a snake with sweet wine
and drag him back to
the heaven within me
